Also, of course share and spread the word about this cool award – Reading Room stands a great chance and it’s a cool award for us all to be proud of.
What are you voting for?
Our mobile app concept for teenage cancer sufferers has been shortlisted for public voting (woot!). We were chosen as part of the 10 shortlisted from 50 awesome entries.
The top three most voted will enter the final round where a panel of teen and young adult cancer survivors will select the winning app.
The winning idea will receive publicity in major news channels. Entrants will win US $5000 to be donated to the cancer charity of their choice and be recognised as a donor. Plus, they will have the chance to have their idea turned into reality by some of the world’s brightest individuals working in this area (There are some inspiring partners including the Teenage Cancer Trust, ECPC, ‘I’m too young for this’ Cancer Foundation, iPharmed, PatientsLikeMe and others!)
Our app in a nutshell:
INVISIBLE FRIEND: Most apps already focus on the practical aspects of patient care. We decided our app will meet a cancer-sufferer’s emotional needs by providing a private platform for users to seek emotional support, vent, or ask questions to an ‘invisible friend’ (volunteer cancer survivors or trained counsellors).
Credits to: Joel Lim, Joe Lygoe, Rebecca Reynolds, David Pickstone, Simon Nash, Wes Hogg and lots of usual collaboration and support from all of the Reading Room team!
Public voting ends 23rd Jan 2012.
